RYA-YA Instructors
Participants in the RYA-YA Training Programs come from many different backgrounds and have diverse aspirations. Instructors therefore need a multitude of skills which they can adapt to the type of boat and the capabilities of their students.
The first step in teaching within our Program is to become qualified as a Cruising Instructor, before moving up to the Yachtmaster Instructor qualification. Both qualifications can be taken in sail and motor cruisers, and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly.
You also have the option of becoming a Shorebased Yachtmaster Instructor and/or a specialised Instructor to deliver Diesel and Radar.
Click on the type of Instructor below that you would like more information on.
Practical Cruising and Yachtmaster Instructors must hold the MCA commercial endorsement AND satisfy State Maritime Law by holding the applicable license. For more information click here.
